Method for preparing a catalytic material for an electrode for electrochemical reduction reactions, said material comprising an active phase based on a group VIB metal and a group VIII metal, and an electrically conductive support, which process comprises: a) a step during which particles of a catalytic precursor comprising a group VIII metal are formed at least partially in metallic form on the support; b) a step of bringing the catalytic precursor obtained in step a) into contact with an aqueous and / or organic solution comprising a catalytic precursor comprising a metal from group VIB; c) a step of drying the catalytic precursor obtained in step b) at a temperature below 250 ° C, without subsequent calcination; d) a step of sulfurization of the catalytic precursor obtained in step c) at a temperature between 100 ° C and 500 ° C.
