The invention relates to a burner (1), comprising: an electrochemical cell (21) comprising a membrane / electrode assembly (31) with a face in communication with a collector (410): - a burner head (19); - a phase separation device (51,13) between the burner head (19) and the collector (410); - an external water tank (8) communicating with said volume (210); -a recovery tank (132, 504) of water from the device; - a valve (505) for opening or closing a fluid communication between the recovery tank and the external tank (8); - a power supply (7) for applying a potential difference to electrolyze water; - a device control, controlling the opening of said valve (505) at the start of an application of a potential difference and for controlling the closing of said valve (505) while maintaining a potential difference.
