The invention relates to a gymnastic beam comprising a rigid profile, a layer of flexible material (11) disposed on an upper surface of said profile, and a coating (12) covering said layer of flexible material. The beam (2) comprises a lower part (6) comprising a lower part (8) of the profile and an upper part (7) comprising an upper part (9) of the profile, and connecting means adapted to join or separate the lower part (6) and the upper part (7). This allows rapid renovation of the beam by changing the upper part only. In addition, characteristics of the beam such as the width and hardness of its supporting surface can be adapted by changing the upper part, or if necessary sections of the upper part, so that the beam is modular. The invention also relates to an assembly comprising several upper parts. Finally, the invention relates to a process for renovating such a beam. Figure for the abstract: Fig. 3
