The invention relates to a covering element (1) in the form of a slab or panel, having a main plane (PP), formed at least partially from at least one constituent material cast (2) and incorporating light waveguides of elongated shape, embedded in said element (1), connected to one or more light sources and having free emitting ends (4) flush. Coating element (1) characterized in that it also incorporates in its structure pads (5) for shaping and maintaining end portions (4 ') of said waveguides, each pad (5) comprising a plate-shaped body (5 ') in which is formed at least one passage (6) configured to receive at least one end portion (4') of at least one waveguide and each pad (5 ) having at least a first passage part (6 ') extending substantially in the plane (PP) of the plate (5') and at least a second passage part (6 '') adjoining one or the first aforementioned part (6 ') and extending inclined to said plane (PP) of the plate (5').
