The present invention provides a rear vehicle body structure comprising: a rear door opening 11; a side sill 2; a side element 3; and a rear post member 4 which is provided on the rear side of the rear door opening 11 and is arranged to rise from the side member 3, in which a rear suspension bracket 5 is provided in part lower side of the side sill 2 and the side member 3, a peripheral wheel housing member 7 is provided at the front of a lower side of the rear pillar member 4, a lower part 7b of the peripheral member of wheel housing 7 is joined to the side sill 2 and to the side member 3, and is arranged so as to be superimposed with the rear suspension support 5 when viewed from the top of the vehicle.
