A filtering viewing element (1) forming a front or rear windshield of a road vehicle (10) includes a lower zone (11) and an upper zone (12). The filtering viewing element is designed so that an attenuation difference between two linear polarisations of an incident type of radiation has values that are of opposite signs in the lower and upper zones. The two linear polarisations may be horizontal and contained in a vertical plane, respectively. Driver glare caused by a reflected light spot that is produced on a road by the headlights of an external vehicle (101) may thus be decreased or prevented.
