The present invention relates to an avionics communication system (20) comprising a plurality of switches (22A, ..., 22N) and a plurality of equipment (24A, ..., 24N). Each equipment (24A, ... , 24N) is capable of generating digital data in the form of a plurality of frames of first type conforming to a first protocol or of second type conforming to a second protocol. Each switch (22A, ..., 22N) and each receiving equipment (24A, ..., 24N) are configured to determine the type of each frame received and, according to the determined type, to process this frame in accordance with the corresponding protocol, each frame of the first type being processed as a priority with respect to each frame of the second type. The first protocol is of the ARINC 664 P7 type and the second protocol is of the Ethernet type with predetermined routing.
