Provided is a method for manufacturing a solar cell that suppresses increases in leak current between electrode layers and suppresses decreases in curvature factors. The method for manufacturing a solar cell is for manufacturing a back-electrode-type solar cell 1 provided with: a semiconductor substrate 11 having a contoured structure on a rear surface; and a first-conductivity-type semiconductor layer 25, a first electrode layer 27, a second-conductivity-type semiconductor layer 35, and a second electrode layer 37, all layered on the back surface side of the semiconductor substrate 11. The method comprises: an electrode material film formation step in which an electrode material film is formed on the first-conductivity-type semiconductor layer 25 and the second-conductivity-type semiconductor layer 35 by physical vapor deposition; and a patterning step in which patterning is performed to remove part of the electrode material film, and in which the first electrode layer 27 and the second electrode layer 37, which are band-shaped, are formed so as to extend in a Y direction and be aligned in an X direction that intersects with the Y direction. In the electrode material film formation step, an electrode material film is formed while the semiconductor substrate 11 is conveyed in the X direction.
