The invention is related to a vertical take-off and landing multirotor aircraft 1 with an airframe 2 and at least eight thrust producing units 4a, 4b, 4c, 4d, 5a, 5b, 5c, 5d, each one of the at least eight thrust producing units 4a, 4b, 4c, 4d, 5a, 5b, 5c, 5d being provided for producing thrust in an associated predetermined thrust direction, wherein at least four thrust producing units 4a, 4b, 4c, 4d of the at least eight thrust producing units 4a, 4b, 4c, 4d, 5a, 5b, 5c, 5d form a first thrust producing units sub-assembly 4, and at least four other thrust producing units 5a, 5b, 5c, 5d of the at least eight thrust producing units 4a, 4b, 4c, 4d, 5a, 5b, 5c, 5d form a second thrust producing units sub-assembly 5, the first thrust producing units sub-assembly 4 being operable independent of the second thrust producing units sub-assembly 5.
