A bending restrictor assembly (20) has a pipeline section (22), a first overlying pipe section (28) having a wall (30) overlying a portion of the pipeline section (22) at one end thereof, a second overlying pipe section (32) having a wall (34) overlying another portion of the pipeline section at an opposite end thereof, and a plurality of cylindrical members (34, 38, 38) overlying the pipeline section (22) between the first and second overlying pipe sections. The first and second overlying pipe sections extend outwardly beyond the respective ends of the pipeline section. The bending restrictor assembly achieves a permanent bend and restricts ovality of a subsea pipe.
