Le décalogue, révélation de Dieu et chemin de bonheur

This article gives a trial hermeneutical approach to the Ten Commandments (Ex 20 and Deut 5). Using a kind of dialogue with the texts and guided by a synchronie and literary type of reading, the author tries to bring out an anthro- pological and theological meaning which is both relevant to the texts and to today's questions concerning God and man. Broadly speaking, in what way is the Décalogue torah, that is to say God' s revelation and law which traces out for the human race a way to happiness ? The narrative in which the Ten Commandments are inserted gives, in this respect, some very significant keys for understanding the text. After having discussed thèse keys, the author tries to bring out the literary structure of the two Massoretic texts and the interprétative outline which results from it. Finally, the author proposes the major ideas of his interprétation in which the Ten Commandments appear as the "directions for use" of the gift which God makes to his people, the gift offreedom and the covenant directed towards the blossoming oflife in happiness.
