This study's object of research is vibration training. The study was conducted to detect possible distinctions between vibration training and conventional strength training. It intends to confirm a theory indicating that systematic strength training with Galileo 2000 is more efficient than traditional strength training with conventional fitness tools.30 male and female test subjects at the age of 20 to 30 years voluntarily participated in the study. They were examined over a five months training period throughout which two training groups accomplished a selective leg muscle strength training program. The training was held twice a week. Simultaneously a control group without any training experience was examined for the development of their maximal strength (peak strength) and of their jump altitude. The maximal strength (m. quadriceps femoris) was measured isometricly by a torque chair. The jump altitude was registered using a jump mat. As a result there was a sufficient variation coefficient for both the maximal strength and jump altitude. Consequently an adequate repeatability was guaranteed.The evaluation verified that both training groups reached a significant increase of leg strength as well as jump altitude. There was no verification of significant changes within the control group.The beginning and end points of the maximal strength measurements have shown a high correlation. The increase of maximal strength, measured in percent, was higher in the conventional training group compared to the Galileo group.With respect to the percentage increase of the jump altitude the Galileo group outnumbered the Conventional group. With respect to maximal strength there was no significant difference between both groups.According to the retrieved study data, a strength training with the Galileo tool is expedient. However, with respect to an increase of maximal strength it has not proven to be superior to conventional training methods. If the main focus lies on rapid (anaerobic) strength improvement the study results suggest a superiority of the vibration training method.
