Job Analysis for Examination Development in Professional and Administrative Occupations. Volume I

The purpose of this project was to provide the job-analytic support for the written test portion of the Administrative Careers With America (ACWA) examining program. The ACWA examining program was implemented in May 1990. The program is used to hire into entry-level (GS-5 and GS-7) jobs in occupations that were previously covered by the Professional and Administrative Career Examination (PACE). The job analysis was conducted in order to (1) determine homogeneous job groupings and (2) determine which abilities to test. Job groupings were necessary because it would have been administratively infeasible to develop job-specific tests for every occupation. The results reported herein relate only to the written ability tests of the ACWA examination.
