摘要

The major objective of the research was the catalytic activation of methane toproduce oxygenates, primarily formaldehyde. Catalysts were identified and characterized which showed satisfactory activity and selectivity. However, the yields of formaldehyde were not sufficiently high enough to justify further process development studies. Therefore, research in this area of the methane reaction science program will not be continued.
