The document is a part of a series of reports by the Indiana Department of Healthto address Health People 2000. The first section of the report presents: (1) selected objectives mainly contained in the Maternal and Infant Health section of Healthy People 2000, (2) the reason for the objective or indicator, (3) four to five year trend line data, (4) the action that Indiana is taking to achieve the objective, (5) the primary implementors and (6) a contact person within the state. The second section of the report contains data on related objectives from other priority areas in Healthy People 2000. These data elements are a required response to federal guidelines for Maternal and Child Health Block Grant funding. Selected county-specific data for the objectives are contained in the Appendices. The report will be updated periodically to allow the state and individual counties to monitor progress toward achieving the Maternal, Infant, Child, and Adolescent Health objectives of Health People 2000.
