Design of a Multi-Use Diabetes Registry. Executive Summary and Final Report

摘要

The objective of this project was to hold an interdisciplinary conference on designing multipurpose diabetes registries for conducting basic research, monitoring quality of care, and intervening to improve diabetes care. The conference was limited in size to permit an intense workshop format. This format resulted in development of consensus regarding the role of diabetes registries for both research and public health intervention. Significantly, the conference was directly linked to on-going efforts by the California Department of Health Services to develop new diabetes data systems. And, new opportunities for reduction of diabetes complications, made possible by the success of the Diabetes Control and Complications Trial, makes conference findings highly relevant for diabetes data systems design under health care reform.
