Trends, Issues and Recommendations for Natural Gas Safety: Views from theIndustry. Topical Report, June-December 1996

This report contains the views of operations, customer service and safety expertsfrom within the gas industry regarding the key trends that may affect gas issues in the future, what issues these trends create for the industry, and their recommendations for research and programs to address these trends. This report is the second of two reports written for the Gas Research Institute's Safety Trends and Issues project. A previous report, The Future of Gas Safety Issues: Views form Outside the Industry, presented the views of experts from the legal, insurance and risk management community, the regulatory community and the general public. The goals of the Safety Trends and Issues project are: to identify key trends within the gas industry and in its business environment, to predict the effect that these trends may have upon natural gas safety issues within the next five-to-ten years, and identify which issues are likely to be of growing importance, and to suggest research and program initiatives that will prepare the industry and improve its ability to manage these safety issues.
