This report describes experiments performed in the ISO 9705 room. Combustions211u001eexperiments were successfully carried out under conditions from well ventilated 211u001eto oxygen depleted on five organic materials with different chemical composition, 211u001econtaining the heteroelements nitrogen, sulfur and chlorine, respectively. The 211u001ematerials studied were polypropene, Nylon, chlorobenzene, chloro-nitro-benzoic 211u001eacid and tetramethylhiuram monosulfide. A special instruments, a phi-meter, was 211u001ebuilt and used to measure the equivalence ratio, a measure of the degree of 211u001eventilation. To change the ventilation conditions inside the room, the height of 211u001ethe door opening was varied. The fuel pans were put on load cells to measure the 211u001emass loss rate. Heat release rate was evaluated from production rates of CO, CO2, 211u001esoot and unburned hydrocarbons. FTIR was used for on-line measurements of the 211u001econcentrations of most of the low molar mass species in the smoke leaving through 211u001ethe door opening, chemiluminescence for the nitrogen oxides. Adsorbents were used 211u001efor the sampling and subsequent analysis of medium size organics. A model 211u001edeveloped for calculation of the flow through the door opening allowed the 211u001eevaluation of yields of the various compounds in the smoke from the 211u001econcentrations measured.
