A PROCEDURE FOR ESTIMATING DISTRIBUTION AND RELIABILITY CHARACTERISTICS OF TOTAL SCORES ON A NEWLY ASSEMBLED TEST FROM EARLIER ITEM STATISTICS

In order to avoid test compromise in air Force technical courses, frequent changes in the tests used to appraise the performance of succes­sive groups of students are necessary. nAlthough it has not been possible to conduct a rigorous evaluation of conditions for applying the proposed procedure, it has proved to be adequate in those situations in which it has been tried.
