This postulate is in its end result the same as the commonly postulated fog theory except that in the fog theory the electrons are supposed to be intermediately transported by forming an alkali atom.nThe results obtained in the investigation of 'F' centers in solid alkali halide crystals show that when an alkali metal is added to a solid alkali halide crystal, the excess alkali is present as an alkali ion and a 'F' center.
