Services, Facilities and Materials to Design and Develop High Shock and Vibration Resistant Crystal Units

During the period covered by this report, May 1 thru September 30, 1957.) concentration has been on the design and development of high shock and vibration resistant crystal units to operate at 455 kc/s according to the specifications of Components department Technical Requirements for PR&C 57 ELS/D-3625, (See Appendix A, page (e).) which was introduced by a contract modification. Although this new phase of the program is to be given precedence, some concurrent work on the original program will be done under Components Department Technical Requirements for PH&C 57-ELS/D-3600.nHowever, the work accomplished during this period has primarily involved adaptation of the first prototype design, developed under the original program, to the requirements of the new specification. Some work has also been done toward selection of an optimum "out" for the orystal element to be used in these 455 kc/s units, and data is presented showing performance of both "CT" and "DT" blanks in the ceramic frame symmetrical "H" supporting structure.
