Electronic Energy Band Structure and Excitation States in Metals

摘要

Study of the x-ray emission and absorption spectra of solids as a means of elucidating their electronic energy band structure have been carried out for about a quarter of a century, and, indeed, have supplied the major fraction of our experimental knowledge of such structures. It has been only relatively recently of considerimental data and sophisticated theory to make obvious the necessity of considering in detail a point which had been previously largely neglected.
