摘要

Results of this research will provide basic information on controlling radon daughter products in mine atmospheres through filtration. The objective was to study the characteristics of radon daughter products attached to aerosols under laboratory and underground mine conditions. This objective was achieved through identifications of typical aerosols and their chemical composition. The presence or absence of carcinogens other than alpha emitters was determined,and the information will be used for mine air filtration. It will be necessary to perform additional basic studies on the possible nuclear radiation exposure enhancement caused by diesel products inhaled by miners. No further work on attached radon daughters is needed in the foreseeable future;however,radon-222absorption by airborne hydrocarbons and subsequent inhalation needs additional research.
