The National Evaluation of School Nutrition Programs. Review of Research: Volume 1

Volume 2 focuses on the nutrition program impact, and on the correspondence between the targeting of nutrition program benefits and recipients' needs. A critical analysis is provided of the methodology and findings for each study cited in the review. The review also identifies areas that need further investigation and explores methodological approaches that are most likely to increase knowledge of the programs and their effects on students, families, schools and the Nation. Finally, the review outlines a large-scale USDA-sponsored field study, the National Evaluation of School Nutrition Programs (NESNP), from which the review is the first major report.
