摘要

Folk healing beliefs and practices among a patient population of a Community Mental Health Center (CMHC) in Newark, NJ were studied. The ultimate goal was to develop an interface between the professional and folk care system which would (1) maximize the benefits, (2) minimize the risks, and (3) reduce the cognitive dissonance for patients inherent in the coexistence of independent alternative systems of care.
