Pacific Tuna Development Foundation: Shark Control and Market Development Program

摘要

The Division of Fish and Wildlife, was awarded $50,020.00 by Pacific Tuna Development Foundation to conduct shark fishing and market development in the Northern Mariana Islands. The primary objective of the project is to reduce the number of shark population around Saipan, Tinian and Rota and to decrease shark predation on local Tuna trollers and bottom-line fishermen. The secondary objective is to develop a small-scale shark fishery which will promote the use of shark meat as food and to export shark products(e.g. fins, liver, hides, jaws, etc.) to various overseas markets to assess the potential of a shark fishery.
