Final Report on the Third-Year R and D (Research and Development) Program for the Men's Tailored Clothing Industry

This report documents the third-year technical effort for the Tailored Clothing Industry (TCI) Research and Development (R&D) Program. Section 1 summarizes the background of the program. Section 2 describes the first prototype machine build, checkout, and evaluation conducted during the first few months of the third-year program. It includes the successful factory evaluation of the machine, so critical to the longer-term viability of the overall R&D effort. Section 3 describes the initial development of the automatic folder and edge alignment module. Section 4 presents the results of various cost reduction studies and experiments conducted in anticipation of a fourth-year pre-commercialization program.
