摘要

The report describes efforts to develop a novel high resolution x-ray imaging system. It will incorporate an external, modular sensor with 6-inch useful diameter, a proximity focussed image intensifier, a fiberoptic taper assembly and six CCD's for electrical readout. The major problem area is the fiber optic taper assembly. A camera to operate the six CCD's simultaneously is under development. A prototype imager with a 40 mm useful diameter has been developed to demonstrate feasibility of the concept. Initial results obtained with the prototype are encouraging.
