Segregation in Rotterdam and the Aftermath: Recent Developments Concerning Ethnic Groups in the Netherlands

The paper presents research on Dutch ethnic populations. Light is thrown on the impact of the distributional effects of broad-based policies on the position of ethnic groups as well as deprived areas - against the background of the present economic crisis. Despite the title, it is not limited to Rotterdam, but rather about ethnic groups in the Netherlands with special reference to Rotterdam. The latter has been pivotal in the history of both policy-making and research. However, the bulk of the paper is about the aftermath, i.e. the shifts in policy making and research.
