Field Investigations of Selected Sensitive Plant Species on the Clearwater National Forest

This work was conducted through the cooperative efforts of the Clearwater National Forest and the Idaho Natural Heritage Program working through the Challenge Cost Share Program. It includes information on selected Sensitive Plant Species of the Northern Region of the U.S. Forest Service. The focus of this study was a field inventory for two Sensitive Northern Region Sensitive Plant Species on lands administered by the Clearwater National Forest. One of these, Mimulus clivicola, has been recommended as a Federal Candidate species; the other, Calochortus nitidus, is currently a Federal Candidate species and recently has been recommended for Category 1 status (Caicco, 1988). Only one small population of the Mimulus is reported here. No populations of the Calochortus are thought to exist on the Clearwater National Forest.
