摘要

During 1987, efforts to restore sections of the Ohio and Erie Canal towpath within the Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area (CUVA) began to take form. In October of 1987, Midwest Archeological Center archaeologists conducted a systematic archaeological survey along the towpath alignment in the central part of CUVA. Three previously unrecorded prehistoric occupation sites were discovered. Four Canal Era historic sites and one possibly later site were also inventoried. In addition, the towpath was cross-sectioned at two locations. The report summarizes the methods and results of that month-long research project.
