Description of the Tula Weapon Factory in Regard to Historical and Technical Aspects

The book provides a state-of-the-art description from 1826 of the interchangeable manufacturing in the small arms industry in Tula, Russia. The book describes what was going on in England from which both workmen and technique were imported to Russia. It also reveals much that could have been transferred from England to the United States. Eight chapters cover historical survey, factory site and buildings, personnel in the factory (gunsmiths and peasants), staff and administration of the factory, materials and supplies used, weapons manufactured in the factory, the manufacture of weapons in the workshop, and a detailed description of all the works (barrels, sleeves, screws, plugs, firing pieces, etc.).
