The National Council of International Health (NCIH) has published the 1988 edition of the directory as a service to the international health community. The book is a primary resource for those needing data on the many public and private U.S.-based organizations that are active in international health assistance. The directory lists over 300 agencies; they include civic groups, foundations, labor unions, private voluntary organizations, professional associations, consulting/small business firms, U.S. government agencies, and transnational corporations. A table identifies organizations by their activities and the countries in which they operate. For the first time, computer disk copies of the data bank are available for purchase. Information given includes: goals, budgets, addresses, phone numbers, activities, staff, countries involved, and contact person.
