Draft Environmental Impact Statement: Summit Pumped Storage Hydroelectric Project, Norton, Ohio

The draft environmental impact statement evaluates the potential economic benefits and the project-specific and cumulative environmental impacts associated with pumped storage hydroelectric development in the City of Norton, Summit County, in northeast Ohio. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is considering a license application submitted by Summit Energy Storage, Inc., proposing development of the Summit Pumped Storage Hydroelectric Project (P-9423-001). The purpose and need for action, the affected environment, environmental impacts, and staff conclusions are addressed. Detailed engineering drawings of the Summit Project and a list of common mammal and bird species occurring in the Project area are included.
