Thermal Energy Storage: Cooling Commercial Buildings Using Off-Peak Energy Seminar Proceedings

These proceedings contain the papers presented during a seminar on Thermal Energy Storage: Cooling Commercial Buildings Using Off-Peak Energy, which was held in Washington, D.C., on September 23, 1981. The seminar was cosponsored by the Potomac Electric Power Company (PEPCO), U.S. Department of Energy ,and EPRI. It resulted from a PEPCO initiative, in response to a perceived need to communicate to building owners, operators, architects, and engineers the potential benefits and design aspects of cool storage systems. Through demand and time-of-day rates, utility customers are being offered an opportunity for substantial cost savings, which can be realized by shifting building energy requirements from peak to off-peak.
