Summary Report of NASUA'S (National Association of State Units on Aging) Training Intensive on Staff Development

The report summarizes key ideas and issues from the January, 1982 training intensive. The contents of the report include: a description of how the training on staff development came to be offered; a statement of purpose; a participant profile; a summary of the training process and content; and some recommendations for local, state and federal attention. The overview of the staff development intensive includes: a definition of staff development; the purpose and value of staff development; uses and limitation of staff development; the relationship between staff development and career development, organizational development, manpower development, and training; basic elements of the system; designing a system; organizational analysis: model selection: functions of a staff development unit; and implementation. Four appendices are included.
