Although combustion times in the bomb were an order logger than those observed under mete turbulent conditions in the rig combustor, pressure rises from 63% to 97% of the theoretical were achieved in the bomb. The loss in pressure rise is shown to be entirely due to heat losses during combustion, as the combustion efficiencies in all tests were greater than 99-5%.nOn the basis of the heat transfer rates observed in the bomb the loss In pressure rise due to heat losses in the rig combustor it estimated to be less than 5 %. Heat losses to the combustor walls do not therefore present a major imitation on available pressure rise under rig conditions.
