Certain Problems and Methods of the Linear Theory of Hydrodynamic Stability

The solution of nonlinear problems involves some principal and technical difficulties. Therefore, in addition to numerical solutions, an attempt is made to obtain solutions, using approximation methods. Basic methods for solving a problem for its own values in the Orr-Sommerfeld equation are outlined. Nonlinear interaction of disturbances and the determination of primary wave frequencies and lengths are given considerable attention. (Author)
