摘要

The high expense of technical systems as complicated as satellites will always demand a high efficiency in the application of the sy¬stem. For satellite communications, some of the consequences are in¬creasing requirements to the gain of the antennas, to the shape of the radiation pattern and to the polarization purity. As results hereof the size of the antennas is increased and also the frequen¬cies applied are increased.nAs the antenna size (or for low gain antennas the size of the satel¬lite itself) and the frequency are increased, the minimum distance at which the in-orbit behaviour of the antenna may be tested - the far-field distance - is increased drastically and will within the near future exceed several hundred metres.
