Application of Noise Waves and Scattering/Scattering-Transfer Matrices for Noise Analysis of Microwave Mixers

The use of noise waves together with the scattering or scattering transfer matrix is proposed for noise analysis of microwave mixers. Noise figure formulas are derived using scattering and noise parameters. These formulas are readily programmable and allow the influence of terminations of different ports on noise properties of the mixer to be analyzed.
