We Need Simplicity and Speed. Some Examples of Simple and Fast Methods for the Measurement of Deformations of Structures

摘要

Measuring methods for experimental mechanics are presented. The methods are: stress gages instead of strain gages; square ring force transducers instead of round ring force transducers; dual constant current circuit scanner with three reference resistors; separation of principal strains in photoelastic coatings by a prism and a reflection polariscope; and an elementary grid method for the measurement of in-plane deformations using photoelectronic cameras and telecentric lenses.
