摘要

This lead for the given system specifications (see below) to a combination of two principally different Laser diode transmitter and receiver systems with a common receiver optics, consisting of:n• a pulsed laser diode system for rapid acquisition and tracking of targets in a relatively large search area and a small window including coarse range determination by time-of-flight measurementn• a continuous-wave (cw) laser diode transceiver for precision tracking and ranging of one target by phase comparison between a carrier frequency and the modulated return signalnThe scope of work comprised the following main activities:n- detailed design of the FM on component level, including construction drawings and component specifications, issue of a comprehensive Design Report 2)n- modification (control electronics) of an existing two-axes mechanical scanner (galvanometer scanner) which proved to be adequate for the functional performance demonstration or ground-based measurements:this galvanometer type scanner would either need replacement by another drive principle or significant modification such as locking capability during launch for later spaceborne instruments
