Backlund Transformations: Tools to Find Novel Integrable Evolution Equations

摘要

Two techniques to search for novel evolution equations, starting from a given one, by using Backlund transformations, are given. The first technique is a method to reduce the number of dependent variables of a system of coupled evolution equations. The second technique is a way of associating to a given evolution equation (integrable by the spectral transform) another evolution equation (the modified equation).
