摘要

Edge stress intensity functions are computed. It is shown how to derive accurateand reliable solutions to the equations of linear three dimensional elastomechanics. The numerical method used is the h p version of the finite element method. The exact solution which is regular inside the domain may have a singular behavior at edges and vertices. Close to vertices and edges the solution may be expanded in series characterized by eigenfunctions and intensity factors. The behavior of the solution close to smoothly curved edges is analyzed. The algorithms developed were implemented in the software STRIPE.
