Lanchester: The Man

摘要

A lecture given at the Royal Aeronautical Society to celebrate the memory ofFrederick William Lanchester is presented. A biographical sketch is given, and Lanchester's work on the following is discussed: motorcar engineering, aerodynamics, boundary layer theory, lift and drag wing theory. In the appendix the following are addressed: the vortex theory of lift, the vortex, the sine alpha incidence relation.
