Activities Report of the Joint Research Center of the Commission of the EuropeanCommunities

The Joint Research Center (JRC) is a European scientific and technical researchcenter. Major achievements of the JRC are outlined as it executes its four main functions: specific research programs on a multiannual basis; support activities at the request of other commission services; work under contract for third parties; and exploratory research to open up new avenues and to maintain scientific excellence. JRC enhances scientific cohesion within the community by participating in EUREKA projects and by grouping scientific resources under schemes as associated laboratories in well specified scientific topics. Human and financial resources are considered. The following are annexed: financial accounts; publications, Euro courses, applications of results; exhibitions and fairs, press, and public relations; board of governors and organization chart; and a glossary of acronyms and abbreviations.
