Teats were made to determine the relative effect of various patterns of open circular holes on the tensile strength and elongationnof 24S-T3 (24S-T),1 24S-T8l, 24S-T86, 24S-0, Alclad 75S-T6 (Alclad 75S-T),i Alclad 14S-T6 (Alclad 14S-T),1 and Alclad 14S-T3 (Alclad I4S-W)I aluminum-alloy sheet specimens having a ratio of hole diameter to thickness of sheet of 3.nIn practical cases, the reduction in strength resulting from open circular holes in sheet subjected to tension will not exceed about 5 percent for Alclad 14S-T6, Alclad 75S-T6, 24S-T8l, and 24S-T86. In the case of 24S-T3 24S-O and Alclad l4S-T3, however, strength reductions may be slightly greater than 10 percent.
