The graphite rods and their globars are then connected in parallel in sets of 3, and 110 volts is connected across the two sets in series. The recommended voltage for this size globar is 52 at which it draws about 28 amperes. This type of uncontrolled heating is not recommended by the Globar Company because the resistance of individual elements varies. Better life is assured by the use of an auto transformer to eliminate the possibility of overheating.
