摘要

The canning of the HBMR 1st charge fuel elements which is made of aluminium with 0.6 % Fe and 0.07 % Si, pitted severely during the 5 months of introductory physics experiments, a period during which the D20 purification system was not operated.nCorrosion experiments have been carried out to find the causes for pitting corrosion. Tests at room temperature of some aluminium alloys have shown that no pitting will occur even when the metal is contact with stainless steel as long as the water is sufficiently purely) without purification of the water corrosion products will increase the conductivity considerably and dangerous coupling effects between aluminium and stainless steel might result. Additions of chloride to the corrosive medium are found to increase the pitting corrosion. Nasik, does not act as an inhibitor for pitting in the environments of the present experiments.
