PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pitching shot detection system for detecting a cut start point of a pitching scene with a high degree of precision. PSOLUTION: The pitching shot detection system (A) comprises a reference pitching shot image selection device 3 having: a reference feature quantity calculation means 31 for extracting regions of turf and soil from a frame image of an object image, and calculating an image feature quantity; a ground feature quantity calculating means 32 for extracting regions of the turf and soil for a pitching shot image of other images and calculating the image feature quantity; a degree of similarity calculating means 33 for calculating the degree of similarity of these image feature quantities; and a reference image selection means 34 for determining the pitching shot image of which degree of similarity is smaller than a threshold value as a reference pitching shot image set, and a pitching shot start point detection device 5 for detecting a cut start point of the object image, calculating a degree of similarity of image feature quantities between the frame image of the cut start point and the reference pitching shot image, and determining the frame image of which degree of similarity is smaller than a threshold value as the cut start point of the pitching scene.
